Default Vacuum tube from fuel pressure regulator?

I have a 1987 L98 engine. The fuel pressure regulator has a tube (vacuum?) that runs to the front of the engine to the AIR devices. I cannot find any mention of it in my Helms manual either under the discussion of the AIR system or under the fuel system.

My questions are: Is it a vacuum line or something else? and What's it's purpose?

Yes its vacuum. At wide open throttle the vacuum goes away and allows the regulator to increase pressure.

Hmmm, on my '88 there is a short "L" vacuum line from the FPR to a fitting on the left rear of the plenum.

Yea, 87 doesn't even have the vacuum tap on the drivers side. Just one of those little differences.
