Default Another Frisbee Question

Is all I have to do is loosen the 4 bolts and take off the frisbee, then replace the bolts and add lock washers to make up the thickness of the frisbee? I want to take that damn thing off.

Thanks for the help. I had a List of mods someone posted but I can't seem to find it. For awhile I thought everyone here was asleep at the wheel.

Take it off, take it all off!!

I've read that the frisbee was an engineering 'fix' for a belt noise problem. I've been running without one for years without any adverse affects. I couldn't stand the thought of my engine having to turn that 7Lb thing for no apparent reason.
If you encounter a problem, you can always re-install it.

Check it and see, you may need the washers with a 91. I did with my 90. I think for 90-92 they reduced the frisbee to a 3-1/2 pounder from the earlier 10 lb ones. Which may be why, I dunno??

I highly recommend the lock washers as they prevent the four bolts from coming loose (from the water pump shaft) and causing you some problems that you do not want to have!

I just pulled that sucker off and replaced the fan belt at the same time. I did not use lock washers ,but, I think i will put some on tommorow just too be safe. Started motor up and gave it a few revs and it seems to be fine. Thanks for the help.

It's gonna be a nice day today, so I think I'll take the Vette to work and see how things GO. I believe I've got the bolts tight enough but I won't be satisfied until I run her a little bit. Then I will re-tighten them if I have to.

Little offtopic sorry, but can You help me with 2 measures?
I have 1990 Corvette, and my motor is out, so I cannot measure it myself. I think that the frisbee was thicker before 1990, so 1990 and 1991 measures prefered.
1.Distance from frisbee to front rail?
2.Distance between water pump center line to lower rail surface?

Here is the pic.

I am trying to put Meziere WP321 to my car, thats why I need those measures.

Thanks, Tim.

Measured on my "91" Vette,

1.Distance from frisbee edge to front rail? = 3/4" or 19mm
2.Distance between water pump center line to lower rail surface? = 12" or 30.5cm

I also, measured two frisbee's, an "89" and "91" and they both measured the same thickness, 11/16" or 17mm.

I used a small level and string to get as accurate as I can.

I also, tried to do the conversions since I noticed you were from Finland. Hope this helps

What purpose does the frisbee serve?

And does my '85 have one?!

Many thanks GKK!
Oh, definitely there are not much space there in front of water pump.
By the way 12 inches is 30,48cm.

I have to measure tomorrow if the WP321 will fit there. If not then the other option is WP301.

Thanks again!!!
