Default 85 intake manifold bolts

What size bit do I need to get them out? They are hex, correct? I guess I don't have the right size to get them out. TIA,

The 86 has bolts that call for a torx head bit. Look carefully to see if yours are the same.

You are right Jake. The first bolt I tried to get out is in there real good, so I was thinking I was going to strip it from not having the right size bit. But they are t-40 torx - I've got some out now. Thanks guys

All of the upper manifold (plenum, tubes) are Torx40). The lower manifold bolts that go into the heads are Torx45.

I wouldn't re-use them when re-assembling. I bought some stainless steel ones from Summit.

Get the hex head ones. Be sure to seal the threads when you reinstall or you will get oil seepage on some.

I know that when running certain aftermarket runners, the hex head bolts create a clearance problem with a couple of the runners. Runners won't seal against the intake because the head of the bolt interfers.

I don't replace the those bolts unless one of the torx openings or threads is damaged. I then track down button head, allen head bolts from ACE Hardware.
