I bought my first corvette about 6 weeks ago so I'm pretty new to driving them. It is a 1995 six speed and I have put about 500 miles on it. My new ZR1 wheels and tires just arrived so naturally I wanted to go smoke up the old tires a couple times before removing them. Trying to burn up the tires in 1st gear wasn't enough fun since the car just hooked up and launched so I tried a couple burnouts in 2nd while rolling at around 15 mph. Problem is instead of spinning the tires the clutch slipped. Just to be sure I did it again and sure enough the clutch was slipping.
I know 2nd gear burnouts are probably a very stupid thing to do but would anyone replace their clutch just because of this? I can still launch fine in 1st gear and run through the gears without any sign of slipping.
