I am looking for a cable to buy to use datamaster and eventually tunercats if possible. I was wondering who has the best price on what I need. I saw AKM cables had them for $65. I have a 94' with OBDII connector.
Also, is there anything else I would need to datalog??
You can also build the 2 transistor or the max232 based interfaces. They work on OBD1 vehicles like yours even though you have the OBD2 style connector.
Here some info http://www.andywhittaker.com/ecu/aldl_hardware_cont.htm
Thanks for that link...I’m going to try to do the simple 2 cable this weekend. If that doesn't work I guess I’m just going to break down and buy the one from AKM.
The schematic on that site was for the 12 pin does anyone know what the right pins to use are on the 16pin. The site said I need the ground, 12VDC, and the data pin on my connector. Which ones are these?
Thanks again.
Thank you very much for suggesting building my own cable. It only cost $7 from radio shack and worked great. The FIRST time!!! I couldn't believe it worked. Thanks again. You saved me a lot of $$ and time waiting on one.
I did have a couple of questions...When you are recording is it normal for your service ASR light to come on? When I tried using a power converter to plug in my laptop, data master started having a lot of problems syncing and it kept having a lot of errors...as soon as I started running the laptop off of the battery, it worked fine. Just wondering.
Your welcome. DC to AC convertors can be (are) noisey due to their design. I would think as long as it is connected securely to the 12v source and ground it would work. I would not power it from the obd connector or a cig lighter.
If you run out of runs on datamaster try Freescan.
As for the ASR light I would not expect that to come on. With it working fine on the battery points to something amiss with the power inverter setup.
