Default Optispark Upgrades??

Are there options to upgrade the output of the optispark? I spoke to a local shop that basically told me to pull my motor and put it in the dumpster since I'll always be limited by the optispark. He recommended I find another year motor that didn't have the optispark.
I have a 1995 6-speed with about 80k miles and I want 400-500hp so a complete new motor isn't out of the question...I just never heard anyone complain about the optispark that much.

Let's see, you have these to choose from:
http://www.dynotech-eng.com/dynaspark.htm

http://www.delteq.com/

and this one:
http://www.bailey-eng.com/LTCC.html

The Delteq and LTCC one's seem to be the way most people are going. The Opti isn't complete junk, it just has limitations.

The Optispark in its last version 95'-96' is not a bad system, I think the bad reputation comes from the 1st version and the fact they used to be very expensive.

I've looked at all these systems and when the time comes I'll be going with the dynaspark, mainly because the other two still use the low-res side of the opti. That side will fail to, just look at the thread
"D**m Opti" here in C4 TnP.

I really like the DelTeq setup, but I put mine in with a new Opti (my high-res signal was shotty and getting Code 36s). Seems the best setup would be a DynaSpark and then add a DelTeq or LTCC to eliminate the high-voltage part of the Opti and just use it for timing.

If you don't need the Opti signals for the stock computer then I have seen a couple guys that put a standard HEI into the LT1/4, requires some machining on the intake to make a hole for it, but everything is still under there for you to use a tradiational distrubutor.
