Feel free to call anytime with questions or to place an order.
Does the cross bar provide additional support when the targa is off, or does it do something else? I am unfamiliar with it. It would be nice if it did help sturdy the car when the top is off my coupe.

The Cross-bar will not stop the cowl shake when your Targa-top is removed. It will take some of the vibration out of the car that the cowl shake is causing. To prevent cowl shake, you will need either a Targa-truss or a Cross-frame.
Feel free to call me anytime if I can answer any questions.
I have the camber brace from R-D, and I was very impressed with the *immediate* improvement in stiffness. I wouldn't hesitate to buy any of R-D's other products - the Crossbar is probably next on my list for, if nothing else, the camera mount alone!
Just another testamonial, I have a 92 vert that wobbled after hitting bumps in the road. I installed Dave's cross-bar and this eliminated the wobble. I also, installed the camber-brace and now my Vette is as firm as any coupe. Great additions for improving your auto-Xing.
i just installed mine this weekend. when i was cranking the thing down i could hear the chassis twist (sound of laminate cracking, like what happens when i jack one corner of the car up).
when i was done i noticed that the front of the door rubs against the lower trim piece - no problem, reposition the trim. i see this not as a negative against the cross-bar, but a testimonial to how flimsy the frame is.
driving to/from work today, on smooth pavement there is not much to notice, but on rough roads and railroad crossings i don't feel/hear the chassis flex as much now. to be honest i was a little skeptical about getting noticeable results especially with my Camber Brace already in place, but i guess you gotta try it before you knock it.
it is a bit heavy - 14 lbs i think Dave said. but i believe it is 14 lbs that actually does something. weight vs rigidity - take your pick.
