Default Mail Order Chips

I don't normally post on the forum, but I thought it would help some of you out there trying to get a good tune for your car by mail order. Seeing as I live in Canada and getting a tune done for a high performance engine is extremely difficult, I thought I would try the mail order route. After reading previous forum member comments with regard to this, I decided I would try and as per many recommendations, I gave Jesse J. Azzto at ski_dwn_it@yahoo.com a try. He was very obliging and helpful. He returned my e-mails promptly and after a few e-mails back and forth on the configuration, I was very satisfied with the chip that I received. The car runs great now and all I have to do is wait for the snow to disappear. I hope some of you other forum members that are a little leery of using a mail order chip burning company will give him a try. The price was right and the service good.

In order to verify your tune is correct, you'll need to get some wideband readings. I'm asuming you have used some form of measurement to verify the tune is 100% correct. What is your a/f ratio at now (vs before) ?

this is probably the most important suggestion in a mail order chip.. get it vertified regradless..educate yourself with the help of this forum aquire the tools and DIY..once you are fully prepared it takes less then ten seconds to save yourself hundreds , if thousands $$$$$$...you can even burn an identical binary file from your old chip to a new chip with little modification. rite roocars?

No wide band results?
cough, cough.....placebo effect. Hypercrap has been doing it for years. Don't be suprised if someone is just selling a copied hypertech calibration. ...

3 wideband pulls on a dyno is about $50, it's the least one could do to verify a custom prom chip.

I just installed TBI on my 400sb in my '65. I used the bigger Holley throttle body, modified the stock harness myself. Now I have to get a prom [or 2] burnt. I would really like to get the equipment and do it myself but I just don't understand that end. I have looked at all the sites, downloaded winaldl and taken some readings but the next step just escapes me. At this point I'm working with Tony at "Choice Auto" in Sk who really knows his stuff, an ex college instructer. But it sounds like I would be better off programming my own stuff particularily if I want to keep doing these conversions.
korvette4u I grew up in Calgary and just recently moved to BC. Sounds like you have this whole situation figured out.

The main thing is to never give up. Realize that you ARE going to tune your own chips. The hill is steep but you'll rise to the top eventually.

EDIT: look for someone at TGO's diy-prom to take you under his wing. TBI is not an easy system to ring power from.

Word on the street is that Jesse begs guys like you to post endorsements. Was you ask to post this? You still didn't answer my oringinal question. What type of measurement are you using to verify your tune is better. If you go by feel, then later on you might realize the tune is not so great. Just trying to help....

Hi kvu
I thought I should reply as I only got back to the forum.
To the first part no I have not had the car tested with
a broadband O2. The snow is just off the ground now and
I am working with the FPR and base timing to try and get
things as close as I can on my own first. I did have a
aftermarket chip in the car to start my new motor, but
it was not possible too keep the car running. The cam I
run is not injection frendly by a long shot as it has a 108 lc
288 int & exh dur and .512 lift. I have a MAF injection system.
I found with the chip I receved from Jesse ,the car will run
and idle at 750 to 800 rpm I have no hesitation no missing
the idle is very good no bogging but it will need some
adjustment in respect to the timing. I will get to the O2
checked but the cost in the area I live in is in the $100.00
per pull range {Ontario}.If and when you can find a person to do it for
you.I was not trying to build up Jesse but I thought it would
help some of the other forum members as I had what I thought
was a good experience with him. I hope this explains my comments
for all . Take care and be safe.

HI, actually still figuring...but did manage to get the chips from suppliers..

Burn 1 , seems to do fine for progamming..software is downloaded, need some files, still have LOTS of reading to do....then come the questions.. i have no doubt that i will be burning and tuning my own shortly...there are a few of us in my area, that are pooling our resources in hopes that we need not to mail order chips! ..as you know what the word on the street is?

say hi to agent86 , i believe hes out in BC as well... keep in touch.

Korvette4u;
Thats what I miss about the big city. The chance to pool ideas and tech. I'm kinda by myself in this small city, but we get a real nice summer here. I've been out quite a bit already this year in my convert.
On my annual road trip there this year [after Lethbridges wild "Street Machine Weekend"] maybe we could touch base and trade some thoughts.
I thought they may shut down the Lethbridge deal after last year but I was talking to a Srgt on they're poilce force and they intend to let it go on again this year. I guess no one was killed yet

that would be STREET WHEELERS, and its a go for this year, may even consider entering both rags into as well as the minichopper just for kicks.

Thanks for reacting in a positive manner to direct questions. Some people take offence to straight forward questioning.....
