So it's Metric. No wonder none of my 3/4" drive standard sockets fit. Thanks for the info. Every time I have tried to search the forum latelyy I get the screen that says there is an error and an email was sent.

The 33 mm metric may be close enough to use, but the Dana 44 design, predates Dana's use of metrics. The design size is 1 5/16ths".

Are you sure about 1 5/16"? My Snap On 1 5/16" 3/4" drive fits a little too sloppy for my tastes. If it was not torqued to 250 ft lb I might give it a try however, I think that I would round the nut and then I would be S.O.O.L.
Ok I am now sure it is a 33mm. I went ahead and busted out my mic and it is 33mm or 1.3 inches. 1.3 inches is not 1 5/16". 1 5/16" is 1.3125" according to my limited math skills. Maybe the spec was changed during the 1990s.
