Default Final Update!

We took bastet44's 87 Coupe out for it's first shakedown drive!

It ran FABULOUS!!!!!!!! Temps were all in alignment, I adjusted the last of the noise out of the valves, the oil pressure was great!

It is running SMOOTH as SILK!!!!

Such a great feeling!

Pictures tomorrow!

Most important, I need to give thanks to several forum members who gave of their time to make this happen:

Cuisinartvette - Ron has been a real trooper in getting this thing done! Kudo's brah!

These guys did so much... moral support, helping with experience and advice, plus, brute force when needed:

CentralCoaster
Ivory90
bmwgsa
BrianCunningham

Without any of them, this would never have happened... Thanks, guys. More then words can ever say.

THANKS so much to all of you! It's been quite an adventure!

She ran beautifully today - took her on a good run including on the freeway. Absolutely amazing - smooth, powerful, very stable and even - nothing like the motor that was in there before she blew.

THANKS Honey and to all of you!

Now you can purr up and down the state in that beautiful 87, delivering 12-packs to all of us.

Actually, I owe someone a good dinner next time we meet up.

Name one other thing that can wrap a ring around your finger AND replace a Corvette motor. Isn't the forum great?

And how would you know? Seriously though, hows your build progressing? I've been out of mine for two months, I can't take it any longer.

We took it out today for another shake down cruise.

PERFECT. Nothing more that I can say. Just perfect.

A few other thoughts regarding this rebuild:

1) If you live in the South Bay (Torrance, CA), check into TG Automotive for machine work. They did the block bore, heads and full rebuild kit, with hydraulic lifters, AFR head and rod bolts, for $1325.00. Ask for Tony.

2) Another local store, Imperial Radiator on Hawthorne in Torrance is great! A NEW Modine radiator for $215.00, including tax! He even found my new level sensor in the old radiator!!!

3) The local Autozone. I didn't buy much hard parts from them, but I did get much of my soft goods - belts, hoses, fluids, cleaning supplies, etc. They were always very helpful. I am very impressed with them.

4) Chris at Superior Chevy. This man is nothing short of the greatest. He deserved

That's about it...
