Default Uping Boost on SC without Pulley

I am very familiar with turbos, not so with SCs.

My friend is getting a V2-SQ unit installed into his Mustang with a Bullit motor. The guy tuning the car had tuned it, and then blew out the head gasket "turning up the boost". He did not do a pulley swap, so I am confused how one "turns up the boost" with a SC?

He mentioned that the SC has a line that will re-circulate the boost back into the head unit. I don't see how recirculating the boost back into the head unit will increase boost, especially under WOT.

Can someone fill me in on this, just doesn't make sense to me.

There is a bypass valve that lets air go around the blower at low rpm's for cruising and such. If this valve was leaking under WOT it would be going from the discharge side to the intake side of the blower. Maybe thats where he got the "recirculating" term from.

In any case if he stiffened the spring in the bypass valve causing it not to leak it would have turned up the boost seen by the motor.

Eliminating belt slip is the other easy way to increase boost without swapping pullies.

I gained about 2 pounds of boost on my vortech, it was by modifying the intake nozzle. But I don't think the Mustangs us the same intake nozzle.

intake nozzle(Edit)---> explain intake nozzle...you mean the intake pipe going to the intake of the blower?

Sorry i cant think today....but Turbo and SC are very sensitive when it comes to the air going into them! i cleaned my Air filter and it ran and seems to move allot better?

The intake nozzle is the aluminum 90 degree "hat" that fits on the impeller intake of the super charger head unit. Greg Carroll has a modification for it that will really improve airflow into the SC..

being that I'm the resident mustang blower guy....

there is no way to up the boost on a vortech bullet kit without changing pullies. You probably should get the whole story from the owner or the tuner isn't giving the owner the whole story. More than likely it's from too much timing(the head gasket). Fords are much, much more sensitive to timing. My buddy took his motor to get tuned by a chevy guy (for the fast dfi) and the dyno guy blew the head gasket by 4000 rpm on the first dyno run.
