Resonance all but gone
Took my 95 coupe to a local muffler shop today. The owner of the shop, David Jones, has a vette and has had several over the years.
He cut a section about 18 inches long out of the 3 inch pipes about a foot ahead of the rear axle then welded in 18 inch long bullet style mufflers. These mufflers look like the old glass pack tubular mufflers but there is no glass packing. They are about 5 inches in diameter, see straight through them. The inner tube has a series of radial, partialy punched through holes that twist similiar to rifling in a gun barrel .
Resonance between 1800 and 2100 RPM was deafening. Now I would say 75% of the resonance is GONE! And........It still has a great, deep throaty sound. $70.00, parts and labor.
