So I have a thread running now regarding the issues I am having with my cats being in the way of my EM long tube headers.
The option I am looking at now is removing the cats. One cat though has a sensor. This car is a 1994. I have had one responce saying it will not throw any codes. I would like more opinions please. There are no emmisions checks here also.
caspers electronics (and several other manufactures) offer o2 trickers they plug into the factory wire harness and fools the computer into thinking that there is still a cat on the car
It will not throw a code....many people have done this on a 94.
Hey thanks again man. You are the responce. I have to ask though because this system was supposed to be a simple bolt up and it seems peoples esperiences often varies. Thanks again.

I have heard many thoeries about this. The first was an early install for OBD2 capability. Supposedly GM wasn't sure if the government mandated OBD2 capability was coming in 94-96.....I have also heard people say that was
I have a '94. My car has three O2 sensors, two in front of the cats and one behind the passenger cat.
Victor is right about the reason for this third sensor. GM wanted to do field testing for the upcoming OBD2 switch and they used that third O2 sensor to take data whenever the car was taken back to the dealership.
It is strictly for test purposes ONLY. The code running in your PCM doesn't care about it one bit. On my car, it wasn't even connected and I had been driving it around like that for 2 years. NO codes.
I removed it when my cats were removed and have not had a single problem.
