You've already got one of the best engineered fuel delivery systems ever devised by mankind.

I wouldn't swap a totally fubared TPI system for 27 carburetors.

Don't swap it, fix it. There's not a whole lot to it. It's simple, mostly diagnoses itself and will run pretty good with almost every sensor on it defective.

Go over to the C4 Scan and Tune section and read through the sticky notes.
That'll take about an hour.
Afterwards, you'll have a pretty good idea how it works.

The ones that can sort of throw it a little (but it WILL most likely still run) are:

MAF
TPS
IGN module in the distributor
ECM

Do a resistance check on the injectors (10 buck DVOM from Radio Shack). Then do a leakdown check on them.
A fuel pressure tester only cost about 30~35 bux. Get one of those and check the FP.

TPI IS pretty easy to learn and work on. You can do it. We can help.

CFI-EFI is VERY helpful on here as are a bunch of other folks.

Opps, looks like he has an '85.
Electric, in tank. It's an electronic fuelie, a mechanical pump won't work. It runs at lower pressure than a TPI pump, but it closely resembles the later pumps.
