Default Stealth Ram anyone?

Has anyone tried to use a holley stealth ram on their c4? I heard that there was a clearence issue. But I just looked at one on a friend of mines 87 IROC and it doesn't look like that much of a big deal. His motor is exactly the same as mine - the intake and his IROC kicks my AXX. That really pisses me off!!

I have been running one on my 89 for approx 1 year. I absolutely love it. You need a custom plenum if youwant to retain the stock hood.

it wont fit with the stock hood. Its about 7/8" too tall. You have to either have a custom plenum made, buy a high rise hood, or put on a hood scoop like Greenwood corvettes make and cut a hole in your hood.

There's a company that sells the complete setup that will fit under the C4 hood.

They offer the fuel rails and all the other bits and pieces. If I come across the link - I believe I saved it - I'll post it.

I've been thinking of running one on my 86 too, but got stuck on the issues of the hood, the distributor and the fuel rails.

How did you go about installing yours?

Thanks,

Jake

And emissions too... unfortunately, otherwise I'd be using one and would have made a custom plenum in my shop..

John

Where did you get your custom plenum? Was it worth the change?

I purchased the manifold/plenum kit for under $300.00 and then had to purchase a custom plenum to fit under the hood. I didn't want to cut my hood. Check out the links above.

If all we're talking about is 7/8", seems that the one that comes from Holley should have enough meat to allow for that much of a reduction in height.

What say we mill the top of the base 5/16", then both the bottom and top of the plenum 5/16". That's be 15/16", which should be more than enough.

I'm thinking that it would be better to take the metal from all three locations rather than reduce only the plenum volume to get the needed height.

I've never seen one close up to know for sure, but I'm wondering if that'll work.

Good link, Steve. It showed me the distributor that's needed to clear the intake. Thanks for that.

I'm wondering, too, if a mount can be fabricated to allow the use of the stock fuel rails. Seems that a braided hose can be used for the cross-over.

Summit sells the intake and plenum for $300, then I'd be looking at another $175 or so for the rails and another 200+ for the distributor and coil.

Adds up in a hurry.
