Default Need some help and advice

I am new to the board. After fighting temptation I have started modifying my 1994 LT-1 6-speed. She's been lowered about 1.25" to 1.5". She's black on black rolling on black Grand Sport replica wheels, deep tinted windows, fog light covers, K & N, no cats, Corsa cat back exhaust, MSD wires, coolant by pass on TB and 160 deg thermostat. The only thing I have done is the thermo, exhaust, wires, and wheels...the rest was already done. We ran a 13.38 at about 104 last year with a .452 RT on BFG KDWS'. Now with the help.....need opinions, good or bad with the following and results if you have done the same.

I have the following but have yet to install: Hooker shorty headers, MSD distributor, coil and 6AL box, MAM ram air kit (the car is already cut for it I think the previous owner had one on it).

Thinking seriously about the following: Underdrive pulleys, oversized radiator, 52mm TB, aftermarket MASS, Upgraded injectors...somebody please tell me what size?!?...a GM Perfomance Parts LT-4 kit from Summit.

At the high end...all the above with Doug Rippie 383 shortblock.

And as every Vette owner dreams maybe a Paxton or Vortech supercharger. NO NITROUS!!!! I want to win on motor not the bottle.

Let me know guys...help is wanted before I waste a ton of money!!!!!

Are the shorties for emissions? If not, you might want to think about longtubes with no cats to give you the most bang for your buck. The ram air kit will help, and with the 52mm TB you can do the coolant bypass to help keep the TB cooler. I have underdrive pulleys, and I didn't feel any difference on hp freed up, but I did notice the motor would wind up a little quicker. One other mod you might want to consider is gears. You have the manual so you can go as steep as 4.10s. That mod was well worth it both in performance and fun. Sounds like you have a good start!

Too late!

Out of all the stuff you already have the Hooker shorties will be a disappointment, and the ram air MAY help a bit. The ignition goodies won't do a thing for a stock engine. Sorry.

RACE ON!!!

An after thought. MSD makes a replacement opti?

Thanks guys....I bought the shorties on ebay for $40 delivered, couldn't pass it up. Same story on the ram air $53 delivered but was missing the hose from front vent to AF cover. This is kinda embarassing, but this is an Ebay car. I bought the car on Ebay out of Miami. The headers, exhaust, ram-air, wheels, glass top, light covers, shifter ****, and a few small trim items came off Ebay.

My stock Opti is cracked or something, every time it rains or I go thru the car wash (touchless of course) I get a miss. I also want to get the small stuff out of the way. I think the previous owner must have played with the computer. Whenever I kick down a HUGE cloud of black (not white or blue)smoke rolls from the exhaust. This is evident in the tape of our last run to Edgewater Dragway in Cincinnati. When I launch, PUFF. We taped our trip there as we were doing a few high speed runs. I raced one of my employees that has a 1999 Cobra with shorties, x-pipe, K & N, and Flowmaster cat back. From the chase car my car disappears in the smoke for about 2 seconds. This taped race was from about 70 all the way to 145, at which time I was about half a length ahead of Matt. I even had the stock exhaust minus cats on it.

This is the link to the MSD opti.

I think my next move will be the GM Perf. Parts LT-4 conversion. For $2300 Jegs says you can pick up about 120 hp. Have any of you guys done this one?

Any advice on putting red C5 calipers with drilled rotors on a C4? On Ebay (again) I saw a guy selling a kit to do just that.
