Service Engine Soon Light...
OK. I have a 1996 LT4, and I have the infamous "service-soon" light on steady...
I ran the sequence for diagnostis by grounding pins 12 and 4 on the ALDL, and I only get a code C12 on module #1, which the service manual says all is OK. What's the deal here???

Your 96 is OBDII.
Service engine soon indicates a PCM (Powertrain Control Module) error code has been stored.
You need a code reader or scan software to examine the error code.
The C12 module 1 indicates no errors for the CCM (Central Contol Module).
There's a Autozone a couple miles North of 695 on Liberty RD. They will pull the code for free.
