Default What's the Correct Flywheel?

I'm in the process of building a 383 externally balanced stroker for my '86 coupe. My question is what is the correct flywheel for this application? The crank is a 1pc seal and new transmission is a T-56,, any advise is appreciated

Your choice of a one piece seal bolt pattern flywheel. There never was a stock wheel with that bolt pattern and the 3.75" stroke (400 CID) imbalance. It will have to be balanced with the rotating assembly. Have them make note of the balance (imbalance actually) of the flywheel, so you won't be left in the dark at replacement time.

RACE ON!!!

You will have to use an aftermarket 153 tooth flywheel. Any way, I bought a neutral balance steel one and the guy who balanced the rotating assy for me lightened one side of the flywheel to work with the externally balance crank. There is also an adapter plate that bolts on with the flywheel that is weighted to mimic a external balance flywheel and is sold by some of the vendors that sell 383 kits. The 168 tooth flywheel won't fit in the vette bellhousing. Ask me how I know.
