OK I had the tires rotated and rebalanced yet at another shop, here they told me that all the tires took an excessive amount of weight to balance.....is this a rim issue or a tire issue????? Car now shakes and vibrates all over starting at 60mph...What the @#@$!!
USUALLY it is a tire issue unless the rims have hit something. If the rims were that far out, you could be able to see it. Not always but most times.
To truly tell have them break the bead on the worst tire. Rotate the tire 90° on the rim. Then try a rebalance. Did the weight follow the tire move? Was it less or more weight added? This may help.
I wonder if it is their balancing technique or equipment.
Darn I forget the term for it but what they need to do is I think its called index the tire. Which means they mount and spin it if its a lot of weight, the break the tire free and rotate it like 90 degrees then bring back up and balance again. Usually they can get it tweaked were it requires little weight. They had to do that on one of my F1-GS-D3s, the rest were ok on the first mount.
Also I think the stick on weights are a lot better then rim clips. Seems to balance out smoother. And doesn't scar the rim lip.
Took your suggestions, went to sears where I bought the tires 6 months ago (first mistake) they refused to break the tires down and remount and balance them. What a bunch of f#$#%s!! Will have to find a speed shop in the area tommorrow I guess. Thanks for everyones advice.
It is called runout when thay have to rotate tires to match rims.
Sears was a bad choice almost as bad as wally world. Try Tirerack next time and check thier site for a recommended installer in your area. They usually have the best equipment to do tires with anyway. And ask if they do a "high speed" spin balance it is the best way to do it.

It is called road force balancing. You need a computerized machine. It will tell you for sure if it is the rim or the tire. If it is a newer machine it can even tell you where to place the tire on the car. Works very well. I work for a Mercedes Benz dealer and we use them on our cars and I have used it on my vette with excellent results. Just call shops and ask if they have a road force machine. Hope that helps.
If you want to spend the money, you can have the tires removed from the rims and have each rim checked to see if it is out of round. If they are out of round, there's nothing that can be done to eliminate everything you're experiencing. It can be minimized, but not completely removed. And it sounds like the shop that put all those weights on your tires might have made it worse. I never saw a car whose tires needed multiple weights on every tire. And I agree that the weights should be stuck to the inside of the rim and not affixed to the exterior. Not only will it look better, but you won't damage the rim.
I have my tires balanced at Firestone and it seems they have always done a fine job and their workers appear competent.
