A couple options, though not MSD, is a rebuilt from any of the major parts houses (NAPA, Autozone, etc...) or part # 611-134 from Mid America. NAPA rebuilt is around $170 and you get $50 back when you give them your core. The Mid America comes with everything and is $289 (coil, cap, rotor, dist).

With the NAPA or others you will have to reuse your existing 4-way connector that goes to your main harness, they both come with the 3-way module to coil connector.

The Mid America part # is for your year 91, the connector info is at least specific to 85 and yours may be slightly different. Either way, the Mid America comes with everything.

Thanks for the info, I am running all mallory stuff in the car right now. It has a Cam, headers, exhuast and soon TPIS big mouth base AS&M large tube runners and ported upper plenum. I figured I would do the distributor when I had it apart.

The small cap distributor peaked my interest because I'm considering a HSR which calls for a small cap job; the HEI won't clear.

Once I add up all the costs involved, I'll decide if the bang justifies the buck.

When I did my motor (408 MiniRam) my distributor was exactly as you described. Everything under the rotor was dried, cracked and turning to dust. I went with the Mid America unit and it has done well for me.

I'm having ignition issues now but I can tell you it is NOT the distributor.
