Default Wiring questions

This is on my '84, to explain, i half took the engine out, everything except the tranny to block bolts, then had to send the whole car to the shop. i labeled the screwes, but not the wires.
okay, i have two wires hanging down near the starter. they both have the connector that fits on the fan control switch. one wire is coming out of the harness with the starter wires, the other one is wrapped in wire loom. there's a sensor on the block that i see when looking at the starter. what's the sensor for? do one of the wires go to the fan switch, and the other to that sensor on the block? i bought a new fan switch and replacement wire kit and put the new wire in, cutting the old one. which would mean that the old fan connector is in there somewhere, just don't know which one it is. i can't put in the fan sensor, as the spot is plugged off, and i don't have the right tools to unscrew it. it fits a 3/8" adaptor, but the ball stops it from fitting properly, so no automatic fan, just a manual switch for on and off.
also, there is a slide connector near my master cylinder that is not connected to anything. it is blue if that helps

On an '85 L98, the coolant temp sensor (Dk/Grn wire) is below #6 & #8 spark plugs and the knock sensor (Dk/Blu wire) is behind and below that.

Both penetrate the water jacket and have similar connectors.

The 84 electrical manual was posted awhile back and I downloaded it.

Need it? It's 27 megs so I have no idea how I'd get it to you.

I just did head gaskets on my 87 and the sensor just in front and slightly above the starter was the knock sensor ( I think it was a single green wire spade style connection)

The sensor on the block ahead of the starter is the knock sensor. The proper connector has a dark blue wire. The fan switch goes into the rear of the right side head, between the #6 and #8 spark plugs. The connector has a brown wire. If that hole is plugged, you must have changed the heads. I have 3/8ths" ratchets (Craftsmans), where pushing a button on the head, retracts the ball. If there is room for a ratchet head in there, that may allow you to get a good hold on the plug. There is a connector to the pressure safety switch on the master cylinder. The wire color is tan/white. The only "slide connector" near the master cylinder that comes to mind is the ESC disconnect for setting the base timing, but that wire is black/tan. Can you trace it?
