hey guys ...i just purchased a 95 vert 6 speed, just wanna know what year gm started dexcool as a factory fill? because this lady had the water pump just replaced and the guys put the green stuff in there. so as a precaution i went to my friends garage and he had that machine that flushes the radiator, and i put new green stuff back in there 70/30.......the car runs between 201-215......no problems...if dexcool was factory fill, should i put it back in or just stick with the green stuff?.......i know they don't mix well

i know its in my 96 and if the 95 is supose to have it i would put that in there they say the green causes corrosion on these cars
The latest invention is a coolant that is compatiable with both kinds.
It's the only thing on the market anymore, I think. Here in SoCal, I haven't seen either old green or orange in some time.
Oh, 1995 was the first year for DexCool. But more then likely, the stuff they poured in was the new green. If there was enough of the orange (and it don't take much) it would have started to gel within days.

You're fine with the green stuff, in fact I still prefer it above all others. I deal with it and alternate coolant formulas on a daily basis and still believe it to be the best. Get and pour in a pint of Pencool 3000, made by Penray and generally available at better parts stores that cater to the professionals. Change your coolant every couple of years and forget about it.
I would stick with the green coolant. I have seen only bad results from the orange coolant in several GM vehicles. Make sure the system is completely fluhed before changing coolants. That's my opinion, like something else we have one of !
Ethelyne-glycol is dead... the old school green crap is done.
The new green is the replacement for both the old green and the orange. It is compatible with both.
Where problems started with the orange was when morons would pour old green into the orange, making jello. It was not pretty.
This new stuff is all there is avaliable on the shelves at most auto parts shops now. Autozone, Pepboys, Kragen, etc, that's it. I haven't seen old green in some time. Like months.
It works for me, these failures related to mixing the old green and orange are done. Finally.

Gee, is this in our (your) FAQs thread? How about a NOTICE so everyone can be informed?
Edit: I just checked and a good notice of your finding would help.

So do you have a link to this thread? What's the difference between the old green and the new green?
congrats on the 95 convertable. I own a red one with red leather and its my fav vette of the four ive owned. Yours and mine both came with the orange coolant which is superior to others. Good luck with your nice ride
