Manual says to pull parking brake up firmly 3 times..................
No it does not... It says pump the brake pedal 3 times to make sure the clearance of the rear pad to disc surface is enough when the park brake is OFF. You should put new rear pads on before you adjust it too.

Does it say to pull the park brake lever up firmly three times in the Helms manual?? Cause i just tried that on my slack park brake on my 94, and it didnt change a thing. holds car on flat ground, but slowly moves on a hill.

Sure does. If that doesn't do it then you have some other issues. If you need any info from the Helm's let me know.
so you swear by the Helms manual?? Honestly never heard of it until i got on here. What kind of price is that book? USD will do, i can do the AU conversion...
My parking brake wasn't used in hundred of times using the car. Now I'm trying to get it calibrated again. When I first started trying what you mentioned above, it wouldn't even click. After about 6 or8 times, it would click once, twice or three times at the top of the pull. Now I have it to click about 6 or 7 times when you pull it. The brake light still isn't coming on. Should I just keep doing what I'm doing until it comes on? I would say that you have to pull the handle half way or three quarters of the way up before it starts clicking to engage.
