I looked through my 87 electrical service manual which shows the location of the chassis grounds and was not able to determine what device that ground wire is for. You can follow the wire and determine what device it is ground for.
Could be batterynegative, Ground strap, you have 2 or 3 ground studs on your car motor, with more then one wire, Just keep them all clean. BRAKE CLEANER IS GOOD.

Doesn't really matter what they're for unless you're chasing a certain problem. On my '95 there were 4 or 5 on one tranny bolt which made things even more of a PITA to unbolt the engine along with the stock cat brackets, which no longer exist. I relocated all of those grounds upon reassembly, some to the back of the left head and others to an unused threaded hole on the left side of the block. Just make sure they're all clean and making good contact and have no excessive resistance.
I'm having a problem on my 84 where my battery is draining overnight. I put in a known good battery and measured for voltage drop and founmd I had 12.48 volts measured from the negative battery post to the negative main ground cable!
I checked all my fuses while looking at the voltage but it never dropped so I suspect maybe a bad gound cable???

Mine is a 96 and I know has the battery ground and about 3 -4 others I'm guessing from the ECM engine etc. etc.

Yeah it's been a while and I know I had to replace a terminal or two and extend some of them to get them where I wanted them but if there's any future issues with them, they'll be easier to deal with.
