Well the problems just keep adding up. I now have a radiator that is cracked, The Plastic endcap on the passenger side has a small split in it about 2 inches long. Whenever the gas is applied, coolant shoots out of the crack. Is there anyway to fix this without buying a new radiator, can just the caps be replaced. Please help! Also, any tips on removing the radiator are appreciated. The car is a 96' LT4 with 74k miles
The plastic tanks can be replaced by any competent radiator repair shop.I had this done before and saved alot of money. As far as removal goes,Ive never tken one out of a LT4 so I cant give you step by step info.Im sure someone else will and fi you dont have one,get a shop manual.Goes a long way.
I, too, found the dreaded crack recently on my 94 LT-4. I felt bad for a while, but I then I orderd a new radiator from www.radiatorbarn.com
$148 or so total, free FAST shipping, because they have warehouses all around the country. Mine arrived in 1 day!!! (i.e., on 2nd day--ordered Sunday night, arrived Tues).
Fit perfect, looks just like OEM, except core was slightly thinner (1" vs. 1-3/8"). Thinner core doesn't seem to affect cooling (if anything, it cools better).
There are other companies that do the same thing. Try Google.
