I was thinking an intake or exposed filter might be a good first mod. Or maybe a TB. Are these good mods for C4s? I am looking to do a H/C/I swap over the winter so these mods need to compliment those mods as well. I am not looking for a cold air intake.
An open air lid is an easy first mod, yes, because you can cut your own OEM lid with some tin snips, dremel, sawzall, etc. Compliment that with a K&N and you'll have a relatively quick, inexpensive first "mod." Don't expect too much in the HP or MPG department, though...
As for the TB, you'll be wasting your money. Our stock 48mm TB will flow more than enough to handle most basic setups. Maybe down the road when you've completed your H/C/I work, you can pick a 52mm up to go along with it. Right now, no use.
Yes, you can definitely buy them - I bought one. I wanted to save my original to put back on when it comes time to get the car smogged. In CA, I don't want to give the smog tech any more to think about than necessary. Just pass the damn car...
