Torque Converter HELP!!
OK...so I'm dropping another engine in my 89 in the next week...the original motor had 150,000 on the clock. My questions is...should I change the flex-plate and torque converter while the engine's out?? How long does one last? I'm on a budget, but don't want to "half-***" the car together, considering that I'm paying someone else to put the motor in for me. Any suggestions here???

If it ain't broke *I* wouldn't fix it. Inspect the flexplate carefully for stripped teeth and cracks and put it back on if it checks good. Inspect the torque converter for wear and cracking at the snout. If good, Install a new pump seal and put it back together. I would be more concerned about getting a reman converter with a problem than anything else. Others will likely disagree.
