Default Possible Leak Causes....

Hello all, it has been a while since I have been around this forum, but now that finances have been improved again I am back and ready to start getting the c4 back into shape again for the summer.....I recently pulled the intake and resealed the rear because of a bad oil leak. Now i just have a minor oil leak, which seems to be coming from the passenger side of the block near the firewall. It seems to be dripping right on the exhaust of cylinders 6 and 8. What could possibly be leaking in that area? The valve cover gaskets are sealed fine, and oil isn't leaking from the head. I think i see a sensor or two down there but am not certain exactly what is down there, can anybody give me some ideas what it could be coming from?

I'm not sure which side the oil sending unit is on, but that could be the source of your leak.

It (they) are to the left of the distributor. Hardly on the right side of the block. You saw it when you had the manifold off. About the only possibilities in that location are the valve cover, intake manifold to head, or intake manifold to block, gaskets. If it is really slight, it could be oil wicking up past intake manifold bolt threads. Did you use a sealant on them?

Yea, put sealant on the threads before I torqued em down. It is definately coming from the side of the block, not the top.

There is nothing on the side of the block that CAN leak oil. It HAS to be coming from higher than the head gasket.

Sorry then, by side I was just referring to the passenger side of the engine, not necessarily the block. The leak does appear to come from a higher point than the head gasket. What is installed in the head on that side that could possibly be leaking oil?
