Default Vigilante Question..

In the install manual it says to "Remove the check ball found at the end of the input shaft. This modification allows the converter to operate with a firmer (yet not harsh) converter clutch lock-up".

Has everyone else done this? Do I leave out that funky clip that holds the ball in there as well?

The clip holds the check ball in place.

Don't do it unless you have the 5 disc converter.

2 ways, price they are hundreds more than a single or call Vig with the part #. I think a single Vig is around $700 and a multi disc is about $900. If you do have a multi it is manditory you remove the check ball. If you have a single you can go either way.

The check ball is there from the factory to cushion lockup, we are not
interested in having lockup come on slow, we'd like the converter to lockup
right away. So go ahead as long as you have the engine out and remove the
check ball.

I respectfully disagree, I do not want my lockup to harshly engage.

I just cut and pasted the email from Precision Industries, as they recommend apparently. What I want to know, does this make the shifts harder as the converter is locking up quicker. Fromw hat I understand the check ball restircts flow to soften the shifts/TCC lockup, as the majaority of people that by cars dont want a hard shift, and this(the checkball) softens it up.

No, it makes the lockup engage harder. The mod is required for the multi clutch setup only because it requires more fluid flow. Not doing the mod will make short order of a multi disc converter. I got this from Jack in December.
