Default Passenger window falls down

The passenger window on my Vette started sliding down the other day. I can pull/wiggle it back up everytime after it falls down. I can still hear the power window motor when I push the switch for up and down. I tried to take a look behind the door panel, but backed away when I couldn't begin to figure out what the malfunction is. I've wondered if it would happen to be the power window ribbon. Any ideas here? Anyone ever tackled a job like this or have tips to tackle it?

Although you need to take it apart to see for sure...You likely need a new regulator.

This is a $150 part from gmpartsdirect.com.

My glass was loose and needed to be wiggled into place before slamming the door - lest you'd break it. Now its fine. Nice tight feel when closing the door...even with the window halfways down.

You have to take the door panel apart. Be careful not to bend the door lock slide rod.... like I did.

For my 93, the part numbers for the regulator/motor (cant buy them separate) were:

22063225 drivers side
22063224 passenger side

You might also want to get new felt bumpers at the top of the windows (dont have the part number) and

10243037 ($10) drivers window front bar guide
10243038 pass window front bar guide

I can get the door panel off no problem, but from there is it as big of a headache as it looks?

Once you have the door panel off you'll need to unscrew the inner door panel (the aluminum one). Once you get the perimeter screws off and a 10mm bolt or two you'll need to disconnect the wiring harness from the aluminum panel. You can squeeze the retainers so they'll pop through the aluminum. Once they are disconnected from the lower edge of the aluminum panel you should be able to swing the panel aside so you can access the regulator wire connector, glass nuts, and the regulator attaching screws on the bottom and top of the door. The glass attachment nuts (3) are removed and the glass blocked up or set on the inner door ledge. If the ribbon is broken it seems the only way to repair it is to remove the regulator from the car in order to drill out a rivet and possibly another so the ribbon will slide out of the track. A replacement ribbon is available. These steps are pretty general but give you an idea what to expect when replacing the ribbon. I'm sure the ribbon may have the instructions included to repair the regulator. An alternative is to upgrade to the newer style regulator which bolts in with a couple of mods. They are much faster and seem more reliable. Repairing the early regulator is a cheap repair until the motor wears out. Once the motor is tired it's better to upgrade, at additional expense. Also, if you replace the outer door glass wipes, they usually render your old window regulators useless because of the additional friction they add to the glass window. Slow windows become slower or won't even close all the way when the wipes are replaced.

I can get a regulator from a 93 for $60. What mods are required to install the newer model regulator?
