700R4 Question

I have a chance to pick up a 700R4, but it's from a 4x4 full-size 1988 Blazer.

Will this work in my car w/o the transfer case?

You will need to use your tailshaft housing, and I'm 90% sure, change the output shaft. Changing the output shaft requires the complete disassemble if the trans. Otherwise, besides not having the "Corvette" features, it will fit and work.

Yeah, if i didnt have to change the output shaft it'd be nice - it's a B&M heavy duty bad boy!

Check to be sure because some of the non-corvette tailshafts will work. The only real concern is how far it sticks out, once you put the corvette tail shaft on.

I think the shafts are different lengths, correct?

Like I said, I'm about 90% sure. Actually, I'm more sure than that, but I like to leave some "wiggle room".

The output shaft for the 4 wheel drive will not work. I agree that it and the tail housing can be changed. Like CFI-EFI said, complete disassembly will be required to do it.
