Default wiper help please

hello all,
I have a 93 A4 coupe.
I took apart the steering column today to access the turn signal switch and multi-function lever. A piece was broken and me and a friend could not find this part online and definitely could not find it in germany..so we drilled the broken part and screwed it back on, and now my right turn signal works again (it locks in place and cancels normally)

problem is....after putting it all back together...all lights work..high beams work..turn signal works..cruise control works...

but the wiper and mister only work when the wheel is in the very low tilt position..and only if I apply slight pressure downward on the steering wheel...if moved to normal or high, it quicks working. everything else seems to work fine.
I know something happened during reassembly...I would just like any opinions before I begin the painful process of taking apart the column again...and yes the connection from the lever to the column is fine.

That pivot that breaks is part of the windshield wiper switch, so you probably did something to it by putting the screw in it. It's probably grounding something or putting pressure on something so the electical contacts aren't working.

I would get a new wiper switch before you take everything apart again. tld-corvette.com has the part with pivot and harness. Check with them for international shipping.
