Default Clutch friction point

So I just changed the clutch on my '94 LT1. I'm a little concerned because the friction point on the clutch seems really high. When I shift it doesn't engage until I've just about pulled the pedal all the way out (maybe 1/2 inch depressed). This doesn't seem right and it seems that when it wears a little it's going to start slipping because it's so close. Am I seeing this wrong? Where's the friction point usually? Thanks for the help.

did you just change the clutch disc, or the entire combo (disc, pressure plate, t/o bearing). was it a matched set?

Entire combo...I'm unsure of how it should feel because the old setup had a backed out pivot stud that required more pedal travel (logically) than it should have. So I'm trying to see what people have normally. Thanks.

On hydraulic clutches, they are supposed to engage near the top of pedal movement. As the clutch wears the contack point gets lower. Add some fluid and it comes back up again.

Mine grabs near the top.
