1996 won't crank
Apologies for making my first post a question. Joined the forum in order to help with the decision making process of possibly purchasing a Vette... In the meantime, I've encountered a challenge.
A good friend of mine purchased a '96 Convertible last fall which appeared to run fine and had no leaks. He parked it for the winter, but neglected to disconnect the battery. Of course it was dead when he went to start it this weekend, and so he had it charged. There is quite obviously power going into the car, as the headlights, windows, etc. work. When the key is turned nothing happens.
My question is this: Is there any sort of anti theft device or something which must be reset after battery is removed and then installed? Or anything else which should be looked at? We did the obvious, such as check all fuses and connections, etc. I'm not yet too familar with Vette's, so any help would be appreciated. Considering selling my Stealth twin turbo and getting a Z06, so I guess now's as good a time as any to learn about them
Thanks in advance for any help you can give a noobie.

The battery cables are making good contact.
The trans. shifter is in park or neutral.
While you turn the ignition key to run (don't start the engine).
Look at the left side of the dash cluster there is a Security light.
The light should turn on and then go off.
If the Security light stays on, the key pellet embedded in the key is not being read properly. The CCM (Central Control Module) will not allow 12 volts to the Starter Solenoid for about 4 minutes. Disconnecting the battery will not reset the time out.
Could be a dirty key pellet or bad contacts in the ignition cylinder. (Clean key pellet with alcohol or use a different key).
If the Security light comes on and then goes out and the starter doesn't engage with the key in Start, could be one of the following.
Neutral Safety switch
Theft Deterrent Relay,
CCM
Ignition Switch
Starter
Did you verify the fuses under the hood?
There are two fuse blocks. One in front of the Battery and one behind the Battery.
