Default LT4 Heads

I bought a used set of LT4 heads and am having a valve job done and new springs before I install them. They had 118,000 +\- miles on them. Am thinking of using the stock GM gaskets unless someone has a better suggestion. Or anything else I haven't thought of yet.

Thanks

Jim

You mean reusing the stock GM head gaskets? Not a good idea.

I just did head gaskets on my LT-1 and I used the Fel-pro 1074. Looks nice and was recommended here by a few.

supposedly if you use the impala head gasket it boosts your CR and give you a couple of horsies... if that matters to you.

That is correct. Impala SS head gaskets are a touch thinner and are worth a bump in compression. Just get the Felpro ones...

Stock LT1/4 Corvette gaskets .049"

Felpros LTx replacements .039"

Impala LT1 gaskets .029"

These are compressed thicknesses. I used the Impala gaskets, why not? Good for about .4 increase in CR over the factory gaskets, I'm told.

Default Gaskets

Thanks for the replys. No I wasn't going to use the old ones. But the Impala SS ones sound interesting. I'll have to think about that.

Default Heads

decided to go with the Fel-Pro's. Any advice on replacing the head bolts? About $21 per head I've found.

thanks
