Got given a cam apparently from a LT1.
Correct type , stepped nose , no fuel pump cam but it does not look like any of the stock L98 cams I have seen.Has serious machine marks between cam lobes and on the sides of the cam journals as opposite to smooth surface on L98 cams;more like a series of machined "flats".Still has blue colouration from being machined.
Have not had time to run the DTI over it.
Do stock LT1 cams look like this?
Is marked between the lobes with
7705.GMPT.BC.16
Where are stock cams marked?
The other I have out of a Vortec is stamped on the rear face? Was a crate engine.
Is stamped 395 FM45 032 01R
Put a mic or caliper on a lobe and post the number you get. Intake is around .452/1.5 or something close to that, exhaust is close to .465/1.5.
I don't remember the exact numbers of the LT1 cam but I assume someone here will be able to tell you.
i bought an f-body lt1 short block and was wondering the same cause the cam in it has a fuel pump lobe yet the block is a 95? the cam in it had numbers similar to your vortec one
586 FM1 216 00R
it looks just like victors hot cam and is way bigger looking than a CC304 that i have also?!?
Thanks for the info guys , thats the one. You can see the different machining marks on the stocker as opposed to the smooth finish on the hot cam.
Thought I might have scored a trick aftermarket piece.New DTI is in the mail so I can measure to confirm specs.
