Another brake pad question
I am looking for what everybody is looking for. Great stopping power, minimal dust and a price that won't break the bank
Suggestions please! Also, what do you guys think about the Raybestos rotors? Thank you in advance for any advice you guys (and gals) can give.
As far as rotors, I buy the generic "white-box" rotors for high speed events and just toss them when they are grooved or warped. Raybestos is a good rotor as is the Brembos. Brembo doesn't make a rear rotor for my 87.
Check out the Tire Rack for good deals on pads and rotors; that's where I got my Hawk and EBC pads. They also have the front Brembo rotors.
You should also do a complete fluid flush and use a good quality DOT3 or DOT4 fluid. For street use, something like Castrol LMA or for autocross use or "spirited driving" use the Ford (
) HD Motorcraft fluid) Should take about a quart for a flush. If your car still has the original rubber brake lines, consider using a stainless flex line like Earls or Goodridge. They will give you a slightly stiffer pedal feel. I have Earl's on my 87 and they actually cost less than GM hoses. Summit Racing has them for under $100. Russell also has flex lines, but I think they aren't the quality of the Earl's or Goodridge. Tire Rack carries the Goodridge lines.

, but mostly just cruzing around town.
