Default [ZZ4 Engine Build up] More progress...

I had some time today to work on the engine so here's what I did in short; installed the balancer, water pump, and hyd. roller lifters. Now, for your viewing pleasure....

Today things started off with the balancer. I chose to go with a 6.25" Fluidampr. To the left is a very expensive bolt.

Here's the balancer ready to be installed with a proper installer. What, you thought I was going to hammer it on!?? BTW, big thanks to Autozone.

Damper installed.

Pic of the Edelbrock waterpump part# 8815

Waterpump installed. Applied "The Right Stuff" to the gaskets and torques the (4) bolts to 25 ft/lbs.

Lastly was the roller lifters. Nothing really exciting. I picked up a new set of Speed-pro lifters for about $175. I soaked the lifters in 30wt oil before installing them. Set the guides and spider tray in place, then applied lock-tite to the tray bolts and torqued to 22 ft/lbs.

Close pic of the lifter valley.

I am really pleased with how smooth things have been going. Hopefully it'll countinue going this way (knock on wood) Well, we'll see......

I noticed you've got the L-98 waterpump on there (possibly works with carbed engines too) , so will the TPI manifold be mated to this engine? That would be neat to see but at the same time, I guess that might put a strangle on the engine's potential. Scary, I was JUST looking over the ZZ4s stats last night before I hit the sack. Doesn't it rev up to 5800rpm? Heard it's the best selling smallblock in the GM performance catalog, have fun with it and keep the updates and pictures coming!

I will actually be running an Accel Superram intake which breathes much better than a stock tpi intake. 5800 rpm shouldn't be a problem.
