I have a 94 and I just removed and cleaned both of mine. They both had so much crud on them, it was a difficult job getting them out. I sprayed some brake caliper cleaner around the bracket, the cleaner loosened it up just enough to remove by hand. I worked it side to side, and it came right out. You may have to spray it a time or two to loosened up the grime. Mine was pretty caked up. Hope this helps.
Mine were really frozen in place. I finally used a screwdriver and pryed on the flange a little at a time and worked my way around the sensor rocking it slowly out. One note on cleaning, I sprayed with WD-40 and cleaned with a rag and the codes went away but came back a few weeks later. I read somewhere to brush the end with a wire brush and I did that and have been code free since December. Good Luck.
I am not sure how good the carb cleaner works, but the brake caliper cleaner removes as you spray, it is pretty powerful stuff. Remember you can reach the sensor from the underside. I sprayed underneath to remove the crud, so it could twist back and forth to slide it out. WD40 will just lube what is there, not remove any grime.
