94 Rear Bearing Help Needed

94 Rear Bearing Help Needed
Hi Folks,
I would like to try to replace the rear hub assy myself instead of paying $300 for the bearing and $100 labor.
My local Pep Girls has the hub for $169. Sears has the 36mm socket for $7 and I have a T55 3/8 drive. Do you all think these tools will do the trick?
Any and all suggestions are appeciated

If you have an Autozone near, you can borrow a 36mm socket from them. Also you will need a torque wrench to torque things properly.

You may need an extension for the socket. I used a small piece of pipe that I placed over the ratchet handle to help break the 55.

I did it 2 weeks ago. The hard part is the T55's.
Just have a bunch of extensions handy.....

Thanks, I just noticed after I bought the socket and the bearing that my torque wrench on goes to 140 ft lbs

i just replaced the hub on my 95. I pulled the 1/2 shaft out at the same time and replaced the U joints. With the 1/2 shaft out, those T55s werent too bad. The new hub ***. was $142 at Advance Auto. It was Federal Mongul brand. Made in USA. Total time invested was 7 hours. It wasnt too difficult.

Rear Bearing
I did mine last year. Bought the bearing at AutoZone, it was a Timken. It took about three hours. One of the T55's was a bit difficult to get to, but a few extensions did the trick. I didn't take out the half shaft as some have suggested. That would probably make the t55's easier to get to.
Overall, not too difficult. You do need a torque wrench. I think the large nut is torqued to 160 or 165 ft lbs.
