i have a '96 corvette, the alignment got thrown off and the inside of both front tires are completely bald. the back tires still have about 10k miles left on them. i got the alignment fixed but i am still worried about the front tires.
My real question is, can i replace only the front tires and wait on the back ones untill they give out?
Yes you can. just make sure that the old tires are kept on the same axle and the new tires are on the other.
In fact you might want to put the old tires on the front end and the 2 new ones on the rear,
except that I've always been told to put the new ones on the front. But here's what I'd do. Get new fronts, put them on, then do a burnout till the rears are gone and get new rear tires. (I am totally serious!)

I like your thinking Mr. Mojo. I agree you may as well replace all 4 at once. I just did on my 90 Vert and it's like driving a new car.
I could'nt have imagined so much improvement.
