Just dropped the car off for the ZF swap. Everything is being ripped out right now. The trans is in good shape however, the Slave cylinder and hydraulic lines that came with my ZF looks pretty bad.
I am looking for a good replacement.
Here are some of my questions:
1. Should I go with stock? if so, what is the part number for stock?
2. Is there an aftermarket unit that has a good reputation?
3. Does the hydraulic lines come with the slave cylinder?
4. what is a good fluid to use?
BTW: I just ordered the Mcleod street twin with aluminum disk and I guess Mcleod now offer these units for the ZF with a billet looking Master cylinder! Can't wait to see that!
The GM parts are dubious at best. They have had problems with quality control and or storage.
Make sure the parts you have, tho ratty looking, are not worn or broken. Many folks here have replaced their hydraulics 3-4-5 times in just a matter of weeks.
They also have SS lines to replace the plastic hydraulic lines but they are not sure of the fitting size??? I am going to figure out the fitting size and probably get their SS lines too.
No hydraulic lines I used my old one, but I did flush everything with fresh brake fluid and bench bled the new slave before I hooked it up. Also it was 88 bucks for the slave.
When I replaced my slave (and master and hose) years ago, the OE hose I bought had a braided steel flex section. The one I took out had a rubber flex section.
I upgraded from the "early" slave to the "late" slave. Hose is different (from "early" to "late") and separate from the slave. IIRC master was the same for all ZF tranny cars.
Paul, top is the late model slave/hose. I don't have the part number, I bought it a few years ago. I'm pretty sure I bought it from Corvette Central. Came in a Delco box.

Where can I get the top unit and do you have the part number?
The braid can - and will - chafe against the cat shield, the braid will erode and the heat will melt the teflon lining... you get explosive decompression of same.
