Time to change my fuel filter. According to Haynes it says to remove the fuel pump fuse, run the engine still it stalls then change the filter. This sounds a bit dramatic - I never like to starve an engine of fuel.
and keep it ajar while you are doing the work, especially as the temps rise during the day. i put mine back on and found a pool of gas when i returned after a break.
Fuel filter changed yesterday. I managed to solve all the challenges presented by the guy or gal who designed to put the fuel filter there.. I guess it was originally designed there before the convertible x-brace was added......
My only option was to buy a 16mm crows-foot wrench (essentially a wrench without a handle) and force my arm over the top of the cat and between the starter motor and work on the top nut 'blind'.
So today I have the satisfaction of a new fuel filter and lots of scratches and bruises. I love my car...
As I recall, you can remove the pass side inner fender well in about 10 minutes or less. That will allow you to reach the upper nut on the fuel filter a whole bunch easier.
