Default Approx. cost to replace leaky injectors?

I think I have narrowed my problem down to leaky injectors. Anyone have any idea what I can expect to pay to replace them? Also, is it worth installing a specific kind for performance purposes? I hope I am not in for sticker shock!! Thanks.

Default Injectors price shock

At the Chevy dealer, the quote was around $1100. for factory
original. I got mine for $329 from a friend that was an auto parts
guy that used his connections. Normal list, I think, was around
$450 to $500.00.

Orrrr, you can send the set to Rich at Cruzin Performance (link on my site) to have them cleaned, flow tested and leak checked. Cost is around $100/set plus shipping, with 48hrs shop time.

You can get some nice ones from five0motorsports.com. I paid $175 ish for some bosch #24. You can change them yourself in an evening, might be a tech write-up on this, I'd do some checking around for it.

I just checked thier site, looks like they're at $269 now. Here's the link.

Here I go again. Check first, buy parts second.

Before you dive in and spend a lot of money on injectors that you MAY not need, test the ones you have first.

Simply remove the runners and plenum, then unbolt the fuel rails and lift the injectors out of the intake, just a little. Only enough to be able to see the tips.

Energize the fuel pump and check each injector for any leak. You can use the ALDL to energize the pump.

If you see one or more of them leaking, you're half way home to repairing the problem. Replace all eight of them. If I was going to replace mine, I'd go with Accel's; I trust those folks.

If NONE is leaking, connect everything back up, using new gaskets, and look elsewhere for the cause of your problem.

NO.

There are a few different things to look at when selecting new injectors.

First, you need to know not only their flow, but at what pressure that flow was achieved. That makes a difference in the amount of fuel the engine actually receives. A 26# injector rated at 43.5 psi doesn't flow the same as a 26# injector rated at 40 psi.

Second you need to know if they are high or low resistance. Makes a difference - maybe not right away but down the raod - because of the resistance the injector drivers, in the ECM, call for.

Third, do they fit? The one's on the link are shorter that originals. I remember reading a post by someone having a problem installing his because they were too short.

Fourth,they should be flow matched.

And there are at least two different types of injectors; one type being more efficient and less prone to failure than the other.

It'll call for some research/homework to get the right ones.

But, as I said before, before diving into my bank account, I'd first make SURE I need new injectors.

Hope this helps.

Jake

I have a set almost new (installed for test purposes) FMS24# injectors for $150 shipped. But first check your FPR. Turn on the key and pull the vacuum line if there is gas in it it is bad. That was what was wrong with mine.

OK, this is probably going to sound really stupid to most. What's the FPR?
