Got my car up and running finally and as part of this rebuild I went with a 2,800 Vigilante in it. I've never driven a car with a high stall speed converter before, it's definitely a LOT different than a stock converter especially in stop and go traffic. It's going to take a little getting used to but man when you smash the pedal to the floor it shoots to 3,000+ instantly
I can't wait to see what this thing does to my 1/4 mile times! Guess my Nitto DR's are going to get a real workout!
Hopefully this is how the tranny is supposed to feel? ...I hope?
looks like those Vig's are doing good!they claim UP to a half second off your ET. with that mod alone it should feel like 40-50hp! glad to hear its doing its job
I remember when I first installed a BM Superholeshot 3000 in my old 327 motored car. It really woke things up, especially considering I had an Isky circle track cam in it that started making power about at about 3500rpm. It was just the ticket.
Glad you finally got the beast up and running, now make sure you come on some of the cruises. So what kind of difference do you feel in stop and go traffic?

The gas pedal is very sensitive now in stop and go traffic. If I give it the amount of gas that I was used to giving it I would be smashing into the car in front of me - it revs so fast now! If you just give it a tiny bit of gas it rolls out real nice but you can still feel it "slipping" so to speak.
My 32 mile trek to work took 1 hour 15 minutes yesterday and that was the 1st time I had driven it other than around the block real quick. I must have confidence in my mechanic abilitys to brave that (or I'm not real bright..).
If you haven't done so already, you may want to install a TransGo shift kit. As I recall, PI recommends this in their instruction manual and it'll definitely firm up your "soft" shifts that you have (if you haven't of course).

Glad to hear the positive report, especially since I've got a Vig 3000 I'll be installing in mine soon. Have you driven it enough yet to evaluate it's effect on mileage in normal driving?
ok what does the 2800 and 3000 mean, i assume it has something to do with where the car shifts but am not sure also what does the install cost?
2800 =2,800 stall speed meaning your the converter kind of "slips" until 2,800 rpm and then it engages so you get into your cars powerband faster. I think a stock stall speed is like 2,200 rpm (maybe less). So essentially the car revs really really fast to 2,800 instead of 2,200 and then engaging when there is less power there.
