Default Long Tube Headers for a 95 A4

Let me start out with the following information:
95A4
3.07 rear
DD 50miles/day
Vette is a long term keeper
Purpose is strictly street (no track racing)

I have researched the tech tips and used the search function to try and find the info that I seek but have not been sucessful so I will ask your indulgence because I'm sure that this questions has been asked many times in one form or another;

In looking for:
A) a nicer "sound" deeper & louder at idle & full throtle but not at 60 - 90 mph cruse.
B) more torque particularly in low to mid range

I intend to go with a Corsa Catback system and a set of long tube headers as "bolt-on mods" for my Vette.

1) Who today still manufactures long tube headers for a 95 Vette?

2) If you use long tube headers is there a brand that you like or dislike for a particular reason? (clearance problems, poor manufacture quality, etc.)

3) I don't intend to add either type of forced induction in my Vette & with presumed lowered backpressure already by using the headers & corsa system I wouldn't think that I need a large diameter header tube however from what I read, less expensive 1.75" are not considered to perform nearly as well as more expensive 1.625" diameter tubes (torque being the considered factor) what is considered the right way to go.

As always I would appreciate any advice/opinions/tips/etc

Thanks, Mark

I have exotic muscle long tubes and corsa. It is a little loud, but I like it. Idle sounds awesome and wide open it absolutely rocks. Cruising on the highway in O/D is not that bad, but it is pretty loud driving around town. I always feather the gas around cops.

Hooker Super Comp's adapted to stock LT1 exhaust, of couse, the cat's gotta go, then replace your resonator with 2 race bullets, and replace your mufflers with straight pipes. Cheap way to go about it, and as good if not better performance than any of those $$ systems.

The only company that makes a quality, smog legal 1 5/8" header for the LTx cars is Stainless Works. Look for them in the side links. I don't know if they've ever gotten their A4 fitment problems worked out but call and talk to Brian or Al. Tell them I said to get their *** in gear! They really do make a fine header that should outlast us and our cars. I think your choice of a Corsa system will work well for your goals too. Someone in the C4 parts for sale section has a brand new one for sale right now.

Here's my set-up. Hooker super comps, no cats, stock from there on back. This set-up rocks!!! It is just a little bit louder at idle (enough to get heads turning) ZERO RESONANCE at cruise, and is loud as hell when you stomp it. My car has 140K+ miles on it with stock mufflers, I don't know if they are blown out or what, but they don't seem restrictive in the least. Our cars have 2 huge mufflers I think all the blockage is in the stock manifolds and cats.

I have the Exotic Muscle long tubes, Corsas and not cats. Fitment is very good or atleast it is with the ZF6. The sound is awesome! especially when you add in the lope from the hot cam. I wouldn't change to anything else. It is NOT a quiet setup but it's also not an annoying one either, You will be noticed.
