noise after engine is shut off
I hear a rattle or something every time I shut it off, for about a second or so after the regular engine noises quit, which is nearly instantaneous. It sounds like it's from the right side of the engine bay, and it's independent of whether the clutch peddle is in or out or the A/C is on or not. I imagine it's something rotating that is finally coming to a stop. I suspect a pulley driven accessory, but what?
Any ideas?
If carbed... you may have "dieseling" aka "run-on"
Dieseling
A condition in which gasoline continues to fire after the ignition has been shut off. In late-model engines, dieseling , or run-on, is caused by heat and the unusually high manifold pressure that result from retarding the spark at idle. Check following possible causes.
1-Check exhaust emission system.
2-Wrong type spark plugs.
3-Excessive carbon in combustion chamber.
4-Poor quality fuel.
5-High engine idle speed.
I can't say whether it's always been that way.
It's TPI, and this is definitely not run-on. I'm familiar with that.
Thanks guys
