Default headlamp motor wiring

I live in the uk with a 92 lt1 and my MOT station requires my lights to raise on sidelights (1st position on switch ) so does anybody know where i can get a wiring diagram to alter the wiring ?

I think you may be better finding another MOT tester, I have never been asked for this.

Or you could pull the switch all the way out to raise the lights, then push it back halfway in - headlamps up, no light, sidelamps on.

just another thought - have you installed sidelights in the "driving lamps" at the front?

My sidelights are in the same assembly as the indicators with a dual filament yellow bulb (next to front fogs) - is this usual ?

not sure what you are asking , but it sound like you want day time running lites.. if this is the case then look here:day time running lites

to modify, use a common 12 volt relay, one wire of the relay coil to ign on wire(pink/blk stripe), the other end to GRD, this turn the relay on when ign is turn on. the primary side of the relay N/O, one lead to the purple wire ( of the fog lamps) and the other to a hot red wire near to where ever you installed the relay..usaully next to wiper motor or in front of left inner fender..then the yellow wire at the HEADLITE switch needs to be cut, see above diagram. BUT the same result can be obtained by simply unplugging the FOG lamp switch.
how this operates: when the ign is turned on it energies the relay closing the primary side and provides power to the fog lites only! if you need to have your side marker lite on as well just modify the circuit to include them.

hopes this answer you question..but i have one ??? what is a MOT??

korvette4U - MOT - annual Ministry of Transport test in UK, like emissions testing in USA. Includes brakes, lights. steering, emissions, etc

Uk Vet - What you need to do is fit some push in sidelight bulb sockets in the driving/fog lights, and wire them to the existing sidelights (which are on the side of the car with the indicators)

To do this you carefully drill a hole about 2" in diameter in the car , immediately behind the foglight. this will give you access to the rear of the light. Then drill a hole of the appropriate size in the light, push the side lamps in there, and there you have it - nice legal (front) sidelamps.

Do the passenger side first - it is easier to get at.

If you need any more details or pics, let me know

John

I've actually rewired the headlights to raise when sidelights are put on and left the driving lights alone.
