I have recently bought a 96 collectors edition and want to add some power and speed. Whats the easiest upgrades to enhance performance? Also, I have a bit of shaking on the steering wheel while driving. Had breaks done before I bought her. Not real bad just that I worry...

With the manual trans. and it's ridiculously high overdrive ratio in 6th gear, you can add some gear to the rear with no real penalty in mileage. In fact around town, I could even see it helping, as well as adding to clutch life. Also a set of long tube headers and possibly upgraded exhaust (if you don't mind a little more noise) would pick it up.

Brain fart on my part. I forgot that all CEs are NOT LT4s. Most of your quality aftermarket exhaust systems will provide some benefit. Generally, the larger and more free flowing, the better. How much noise can you stand? The headers will help a bunch, even with a stock system. Since you have an LT1, I'd recommend 1.6 roller rockers too. They and some upgraded springs can be installed in a few hours and will give a boost you can feel, increasing valve lift nearly .030" if I remember right. I'd recommend the B&M Shift Plus too. It accomplishes the same thing as a shift kit on an electronic trans., making your shifts quicker by increasing shift pressure via the PCM. Easy to wire in and install and is adjustable to your preference. Also reduces trans. heat by reducing slippage and prolongs trans. life. I also use B&M synthetic Trick Shift fluid. Beyond this, it'd be time for the more serious mods, cam, head porting, etc.
Oh, if you already have the 3.07 gear, don't worry about anymore unless you don't care about mileage at all. These are a great all around gear for the automatics. A higher stall converter would be of much more benefit for a daily driver.
