Default head porting question

when porting heads is it better to do the intake and exhaust side or just the exaust side. i ask this b/c i had mine done and they only did the exaust side. I have since been told that the should have done both sides. I am really confused and i dont want to be shortening myself any power.
Thx

bOTH SIDES. I bought my already ported. It is important that the flow in is smooth and at its max for the head and the same going out. Sounds like they did half the job.

Did they flow the heads before they ported them? What are the particulars as far as type/size of head, motor, gear, etc? Some intake ports are strong out of the box and may just need a bit of exhaust work to bring the percentage up.

If you're talking about stock LT1 heads, there would be a fair amount of work on both intake and exhaust to maximize the potential of a 224/230 with .544 lift. (Assuming the cam in your profile is the one we're talking about.)

If they went (took you) to all the expense of pulling the heads, stripping them down, and putting them on the bench, I can't imagine why they would do only the exhaust.

Maybe you had them under some budgetary constraint?
